SUMMARY:
FACES for the Future Coalition performs four main bodies of work to support the mission of the FACES program: 1) provides technical assistance and oversight for existing FACES for the Future programs, 2) develops new programs in communities of need, 3) standardizes program evaluation and program design, and 4) innovates the FACES program model through curriculum development and program design best practices.
The Deputy Director II provides increased administrative oversight and management as the organization grows, hires, and manages new staff, and supports innovation and fund development of FACES programs in multiple communities in the coming years.
The Deputy Director II works with the Research Program Director II (PI/PD) to provide leadership, management, and oversight of the program. The position assists the PI/PD with managing a variety of program functions and supervising program staff.
This is a regular full-time position.
This position is required to travel approximately 15% of the time to attend in-person meetings in the San Francisco Bay Area and to visit FACES program locations in different states including CA, NM, OR, MI and CO as needed. The FACES for the Future Coalition is based in Oakland, CA. Candidates who reside in the San Francisco Bay Area are preferred, but candidates who are based in other CA regions or outside of California are welcome to apply and will be considered.

Full salary range for this position: $117,559 to $180,305 per year. The typical hiring range for this position is from $117,559 (minimum) to $148,932 (midpoint), based on 100% FTE. The starting salary is determined based on the candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, as well as budget availability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Works with the Program Director to provide leadership and management of the program, including analysis and implementation of priorities, partnerships, and infrastructure needs.
• Identifies and implements project management protocols and practices.
• Oversees program workload, coordinates, and tracks completion of grant objectives.
• Participates in strategic planning and analysis to support program’s growth and development.
• Researches and implements workflow and process improvements.
• Performs risk management planning and crisis management.
• Determines organizational capacity for implementation of new projects and directions.
• Researches new opportunities for program development and communication of program impact.
• Fundraises and writes proposals for funding.
• Supports budgets and expenses for the program.
• Supports strategic planning, financial projections, and budget development.
- Provides post-award management for grants, tracking expenses and providing financial forecasting.
- Ensures all programs are in compliance with contractual obligations and meeting quality standards.
- Prepares budget revisions and amendments for funders and for internal purposes.
- Oversees consultant contracts, subcontracts, and inter-program agreement management.
- Acts as a liaison with PHI Central on contract and accounting issues.
- Monitors and tracks grant activity and progress reports. Oversees financial report completion.
- Oversees vendor accounts, contract negotiations and maintenance contracts.
- Participates in decision-making regarding budget development, allocation, and modifications.
- Supervises program staff (may be entire staff or a group of staff). Acts as a mentor and coach to staff.
- Establishes procedures for managing workload and setting priorities.
- Manages human resources issues for the program, resolving personnel problems and leading the staff hiring processes.
- Supports the Program Director in conducting staff planning, team design, career progression and resource allocation.
- Completes performance evaluations for direct reports and supports supervisors to complete annual performance reviews for their staff.
- Travels to attend in-person meetings and to visit various FACES program sites as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- At least 7 years of related experience, including at least 3 years as a manager. Knowledge/experience related to leadership can substitute.
- Bachelor’s degree, or substitute with four additional years of relevant experience.
Other Qualifications
- Experience in project management and prioritization: managing multiple projects, timeline development, tracking and deadlines.
- Experience and skills in staff supervision and leadership.
- Experience working with youth programming, health care systems, education systems and health career pipelines preferred.
- Demonstrated capacity to write grant proposals and manage a varied grant award portfolio.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Strategic thinker capable of drafting long-term goals, project timelines, and deliverables.
- Detail oriented and decision-making ability.
- Strong understanding of trauma informed strategies and inclusion of safety net services in program design.

- Master’s Degree preferred.
- Ability to travel to attend in-person meetings and to visit various FACES program sites.
